If you are new to the sport please do not buy equipment before the course.  Should you choose to join the club after the coarse you will be able to use the club equipment whilst you continue to develop and get advice from the coaches about the most suitable equipment to consider.

AGB email to Secretaries (27/11/2020)

Dear Secretary,

We've plenty of good news to share as we approach Christmas and the New Year, including club funding opportunities, AGB webinars to join and plans for next year's Big Weekend in May, which we hope will be bigger and better than ever, introducing many more people to our sport. We start with the latest update on Covid-19 guidance for England...

Covid-19 update for England
Further to this week’s announcement of the new post-lockdown restrictions for England, we are very pleased that archery can resume both outdoors and indoors across all tiers from 2 December. We are refreshing our Covid guidance and will release this to members on Monday 30 November. However, we can share with club officials the attached summary document, which outlines the various restrictions in each tier. Our thanks again to the volunteers who helped us put this together.

To help you understand the restrictions, we are hosting a drop-in webinar on Tuesday 1 December at 7pm. Please join us to hear more about the revised guidance for England and how this may affect your delivery of archery in the tier your club is in. This is open to any club official and there will be an opportunity to ask questions. We encourage clubs that have not yet reopened to join us so that we can help you navigate through the guidance.

Sign up for ‘Guidance for England’ through the membership portal (
https://agb.sport80.com) under Courses. In the meantime, please email membership@archerygb.org should you have any queries.

 Webinars

- The Winter Competitions webinar held recently was recorded, so you can listen to all the latest news about how archers can compete virtually this winter, as well as a look towards competitions in 2021:

Could you invite someone to take an Archery GB webinar with you, as a good way to attract, encourage and train new volunteers into new roles? Look out for many more webinars to come in 2021!

- Did you know if you have missed a webinar, you can catch up on most of them from the recordings, available on the
Archery GB YouTube Channel

- Not managed to book into an Archery GB webinar but are still looking to strengthen your club in 2021? Why not sign up for an interactive webinar through Club Matters

Big Weekend 2021 - save the date in your club’s diary now!

2021 will hopefully hold many opportunities to rebuild activity, and strengthen the sport of archery to potentially come back stronger than before. What better way to celebrate and promote our sport than with a week of archery?

The week-long celebrations will aim to boost participation in our sport, 8-16 May 2021 – and your club can decide its own activities throughout the week. It's a good time to gather the whole club together, and maybe hold a social event or a working party weekend to spruce up the range, equipment or the clubhouse.
Perhaps you can link with a local school in the week, or run evening events. Could your club perhaps offer special coaching or bow tuning sessions?

Let's put archery firmly in people’s thoughts. The week will culminate in a huge ‘have-a-go’ weekend with the Big Weekend: 14-16 May – what would the impact be if more than 800 archery clubs were involved across the whole country? Please join us by putting the date in your diary. More details to come in 2021.
